Reverse Angle Pictures

Reverse Angle Pictures acts as the sales agent for the film rights of the Reverse Angle companies as well as the Wim Wenders library and takes care, as a music publisher and a record company, of the administration and commercialisation of the music played in the productions of the Reverse Angle companies. In addition, the company develops and produces feature films and documentaries for the German and international markets.

With the opening of “The Soul of a Man” in spring 2004, Reverse Angle Pictures has entered the German market as a distributor. Other films distributed by Reverse Angle Pictures are “Feel like Going Home” by Martin Scorsese, “The Road to Memphis” by Richard Pearce, “Godfathers and Sons” by Marc Levin, “Red, White & Blues” by Mike Figgis, “Lightning in a Bottle” by Antoine Fuqua, “Land of Plenty”, “Egoshooter” by the company Field recordings – Christian Becker and Oliver Schwabe, and “Don’t Come Knocking” by Wim Wenders. In fall 2006 the films “The House is Burning” and “Bye Bye Blackbird” were released in Germany by Reverse Angle Pictures. The documentary film “Pool of Princesses” by Bettina Blümner was released in German cinemas in May 2007. Furthermore, the films “Piano Blues” by Clint Eastwood and “Warming by the Devil’s Fire” by Charles Burnett are distributed by Reverse Angle Pictures since 2008. The feature film “The Architect” by Ina Weisse opened in cinemas in February 2009. In June 2010 the feature films “Bedways” by RP Kahl and “Cindy liebt mich nicht” by Hannah Schweier were released in German cinemas. On May 26th, 2011, the German-Chinese co-production “I PHONE YOU” (directed by Dan Tang, written by Wolfgang Kohlhaase) has also been released in German cinemas.

Due to the merger of Reverse Angle Library into Reverse Angle Pictures in July 2011 the company is the owner of the Wim Wenders film library. To this film library belong classics like: “Alice in the Cities”, “Wings of Desire”, “Paris, Texas”, “Faraway, so Close!” as well as the successful documentary “Buena Vista Social Club”. As Reverse Angle Production was also merged into Reverse Angle Pictures in July 2011, the company develops and produces feature films and documentaries for the German and international markets now. The films, which Reverse Angle Production has produced, are also merged into Reverse Angle Pictures:

The first production was “Don’t Come Knocking” (directed by Wim Wenders). The film was shot in the United States during the summer of 2004. After a successful premiere in Cannes the film was shown in cinemas worldwide and sold to the Western territories in Europe, Asia and North America. In 2006 the documentary film “Pool of Princesses”, produced by Reverse Angle Production, premiered at the Berlinale and received the “Dialogue en perspective” award for its extraordinary contribution for the ‘Perspektive Deutsches Kino’ section. In 2007 the film was released in Germany by Reverse Angle Pictures, in Austria by Polyfilmverleih. In 2008, the film won the German Film Award 2008 in the category ‘Best Documentary Film’. In 2009, Reverse Angle Production released “The Architect” (by Ina Weisse). The same year Sophie Rois won the German Film Award for ‘Best actress in a supporting role’. Also, “The Architect” was nominated as ‘Best Feature Film’ for the North German Film Award 2009 (Norddeutscher Filmpreis). The German-Chinese co-production “I PHONE YOU” (directed by Dan Tang, written by Wolfgang Kohlhaase) has been completed in January 2011

Reverse Angle is currently developing the feature film project “Ein Hohes Lied” (written by Maike Wetzel).
